Westword’s “Best Middle Eastern Restaurant” Award

Ya Hala Grill has won several awards including Westwords “Best Middle Eastern Restaurant” in both 2007 and 2008.  In their 2008 Best Of edition, here’s what Westword had to say about us:

“Everything Ya Hala makes is superb, from the simple grilled kebabs and chicken to the shawarma, balilla and sambusk. And its baklava is not just the best in Denver, but possibly the best baklava ever made — an unbelievably addictive, honey-sweet and perfectly crispy dessert.”

What People are Saying …

Here’s a few quotes from reviews of our restaurant, both from newspaper articles and customer reviews.

“It’s obvious from the outside that Ya Hala is not going to be a white-tablecloth kind of place. But that’s okay, because what’s on offer here is the honest article: Syrian food done traditionally and with surprising talent. From the free pita and hummus to the perfect grilled chicken and unbelievably good baklava, everything is a treat for both the adventurous eater and his wallet.”

“the best falafel sandwiches, hands down. only they make falafels that don't break a tooth!”
by Ellea on Place Shout

“This is one of our FAVORITE places to eat...Service is wonderful!! They are open late as well!! We usually get the Gyros Sandwiches and the GARLIC DIP!!! If you are a fan of mashed potatoes, vegetable oil and LOTS of garlic, in a paste to dip pita bread in..this is your place. The best part is, it isn't overpriced, its quality food cooked right then and there for you, its as cheap as fast food, but the quality is top notch!!!”

“I see why they are Westwords "Best".  If you are fond of Gyros... you will like this little eatery. They do offer a full middle eastern menu, but the gyros was what will bring me back. Recently renovated, this eatery has my vote for one of the best gyros around. The sauce was just right (cucumber - yogurt or sour cream) actually accented the food instead of drowning it. The flan was also very good. We only stopped in and had the lunch special, but will now have to try the full dinner experience.”
